Nick Jaina is a musician and writer from Portland, Oregon. He has released six albums on Hush Records. His most recent album, The Beanstalks That Have Brought Us Here Are Gone,, featured all new songs he wrote and produced, with lead vocals by ten different female singers.
In 2011 he composed an original ballet with the Satellite Collective, which features dancers from the New York City Ballet, which debuted at the Baryshnikov Center in Manhattan to a sold-out audience. He is the composer and musical director for a play in New Orleans called Girls Who Drew Horses, which is premiering at the Allways Lounge in February 2012 and at that city’s Fringe Festival in November.
Nick writes an occasional column for Portland’s local music website Localcut.com, and has had portions of his essays published in literary compilations and in the Atlantic Monthly. Nick has toured the United States with his band, playing in theaters and on street corners with a band that has included trumpet, violin, upright bass and drums.
