Barleycorn & Toblerone
by Nick Jaina
Toblerone and moonshine
sitting in the attic
sanding down the roadsigns
put a penny in a moving picture
they said our love would make us richer
when it flickers to black
I think I want my penny back
well a paper bag and a musical s¬aw
tools of the trade of American law
well they tell us a story
they start at the beginning
they end at the end but they leave out
I was used to barleycorn
in the road with the moonshine
they said that was that
I was standing in the bread line
knife and fork were on my table
I couldn’t put food though I was able
nor could I speak the line
though my entrance was on time
well a paper bag and a musical saw
tools of the trade of American law
well they tell us a story
they start at the beginning
they end at the end but they leave out
