Luck
by Nick Jaina
I love the roof
on your mother's house
at night when it rains and it shakes the rhythm out
I love the phone
on that black metal hook
it rang for a week and then it stopped, mistook
is that luck?
because if it's not luck
what is luck?
how come the criminals are running the world?
how come our heroes are rotting in jail?
how come the sun is as big as the moon?
how come my light was eclipsed by you?
was it luck
because if it's not luck
what is luck?
why was that flower shop open so late?
why was the fortune left on my plate?
why was the window so close to your bed?
why did t your hair fall across your forehead?
